About the Think Pregnancy Campaign
The Think Pregnancy campaign was initiated by the Sonoma County Perinatal Alcohol and Other Drugs Action Team; it hopes to reach young women, ages 16 to 21 who are living or going to school in Sonoma County, with the following message:
DO NOT use alcohol, tobacco and other drugs AT ALL during pregnancy, or even if you think you might be pregnant. Much of the damage can occur during the first trimester of pregnancy, when many young women don't even realize that they are pregnant.
The campaign's goals are:
- Prevent young women from using alcohol or other drugs during pregnancy.
- Educate teens and young adults about the dangers of substance use during pregnancy, especially during the critical development period of the first trimester.
We hope to encourage young women to address any substance use problems they might have BEFORE they get pregnant.
Ultimately, we encourage women to have an awareness of their bodies, and to empower them to plan pregnancies for a time in their life when they are best prepared, both physically and emotionally.
